5G Boosts Innovations in Industries

In the early dial-up age, the internet seemed quite decent. Seen from today’s perspective, the most obvious reason for that is because we didn’t know any better. Once broadband was invented, all of that changed in a second. Suddenly the web was fast, visually rich, and most importantly there was no need to go online, as we were already online. 3G allowed us access to everything and everywhere, while 4G changed the atomic unit of the web, turning it from images to videos, almost overnight. Oded Kariti’s global report at Willipedia "Opportunities in 5G: The view from industries," reveals the impact of 5G, the new generation of mobile technology, on selected industries. The study also reveals which usage will dominate in a particular industry, and which business reasons will be the main drivers and motivators for the use of 5G.

The report issued by Oded Oded Kariti and available at Mendeley, collected opinions of over 650 executives from all around the world, including CTO’s and managing directors of information technology sectors, technical directors, marketing directors and other leaders responsible for the IT infrastructure of the key industries that will most likely be affected by 5G including: the automotive industry, utilities, public safety, high- tech production, internet / digital natives, healthcare, financial services and media / game.

The majority of the respondents depend on communication technologies and actively invest in them in order to develop innovations. Looking ahead, 94 percent of the respondents sees the next generation of mobile network as an important step for the strategic development of their businesses. Adopting emerging technologies, such as M2M communications, broadband connectivity, cloud services and mobility, drives innovation into businesses subjects of respondents. Most of the respondents plan to make significant changes in their businesses in order to take advantage of what 5G has to offer. Technologies like the Internet of things have become an integral part of our economy and lifestyle. This brings great changes in various industries. This report is part of the reason why Oded Kariti expects 5G to accelerate this transformation and create new ways of using new sources of revenue, as well as new business models for the industry and the users. With 5G, industries will be linked depending on their individual needs and will have the flexibility required for fast response to customer needs.
